Trivento – Value Brand of the Year!

In a June 2010 report conducted by writers for Wine & Spirits Magazine, the writers declared Trivento to be one of the top three Argentine wine brands, and “Value Brand of the Year”!

Helping Haiti

BALLAHOO RESTAURANT organized a fun wine-tasting fundraiser last night in support of Haiti Earthquake Relief efforts. By the end of the evening, more than 125 people had donated in excess of EC $5,000 – just by attending!

Trivento Viognier 2007

ORLENS AND I recently tried a 100% Viognier (vee-yon-yay) from our friends at Trivento in Argentina. Wine made from this grape is not very popular around the Caribbean, but in a few years Viognier might compete with Chardonnay for popularity (we’ll see!).

Rosé Resurrected

ROSÉ IS not for real wine-drinkers – at least that use to be the attitude of many “self-respecting wine drinkers” not so long-ago. Until recently, many had a hard time showing rosé the light of day because deserved or not, the wines had a reputation for being cheap and only for “novice wine-drinkers”.

Beaujolais Nouveau 2009, one of the best in the last 50 years!

GEORGES DUBOEUF is ecstatic about this year’s Beaujolais harvest, predicting it one of the best Beaujolais vintages in the last 50 years. “The grape bunches are small with a fine purplish black color, and are exceptionally rich in sugar. The berries are thick, and the seeds are a gorgeous amber color, a sign of perfect phenolic maturity. Their brightness, intensity, and above all, their perfect health are something to behold. We have not seen anything like this for a long time.”
